Thank you to all who posted a comment to the Edublog website. I hope that you all enjoyed writing and reading what others posted. I appreciate those that took their time and wrote a thorough response with correct spelling, punctuation, and writing your name.

There will be more posts to come in the near future.

Christmas Gifts

As the Christmas season draws near, we all have several people do buy for. Please do not feel that you need to get me a gift. While I appreciate each blessing, I would rather you purchase something for our classroom for all the students to use (games, gift cards, markers, big scissors, etc). Thank you for your kindness. Merry Christmas!!

New website

Check out the following link that has tons of fun and educational games. We played the Pirate Decimal game in math class the other day. Mr Nussbaum is a pretty cool site!

There is even a spelling game on the site too. Type in the following code to practice and play  WBK569

Week 5

It's hard to believe that we are already half way through the first nine weeks!! I wanted to let you know that I am very pleased with how things are going this year. I seem to have a fairly responsible group of students who on occasion need friendly reminders. In fifth grade, we do a reward movie for the students who have not received any demerits for the nine weeks. If a student is unable to attend the movie, he/she will be making up work, reading a book, or completing other tasks while the movie is being shown. The next nine weeks, the student may join the class, if no demerits have been received for the next nine week period.

Homework Helpers--will be starting in October. Recommendations have been to Mrs. Marshall. If you would like your child to attend and has not already been recommended, please let me know.

Thank you for all that you do!

Frog-tastic Spellers!

As an incentive and reward for getting 100% or better on Spelling tests, students can choose not to do homework on certain weeks. This week is the first week that can happen. When a student gets 100% on 3 Spelling tests, he/she may choose not to do their contract for the next week's words. However, they will still need to study because he/she is not exempt from the test. A student may choose at anytime to use their 3 aces, but do not have to use them if they do not want to.

If you have any questions about being a Frog-tastic Speller, please let me know.

Week 2

Well, we have made it through 2 weeks of school so far. I think that the students and myself are getting the hang of things in grade 5. Schedules and procedures are being memorized and followed through pretty good!

Just a few reminders:
Please check your child's assignment notebook for daily assignments

Encourage your child to start assignments early and to keep homework in their "green" folder that is to travel with them to each class.

If anyone would like to volunteer anytime in the classroom, please let me know and I will keep you in my for future needs.

Thanks so much for making this year start off so great!!
